It allows SSL traffic to be decoded, before being filtered by your CK appliance, it can then also be passed along for AV/Malicious code checking with CK-AV gateway or some other AV gateway HTTP filtering product (if desired), then returned to the CK-SSLi for re-encryption and forwarding to the target site.
